Hello.
I haven't updated the website for a while. I took a holiday break to recharge. I'm out and about now so I just wanted to thank all the students who attended Terms 1,2 and 3 of the classes in 2025/26. I hope you enjoyed taking these courses as much as I enjoyed giving them.
I'm now preparing the courses for the term starting in September and have taken down the course notes and handouts for updating. Anyone needing additional copies email me and I'll send copies to you.

About the Course
This is how Paul Strand (1890-1976) defined the art of photography.
"…how you build a picture, what a picture consists of, how shapes are related to each other, how spaces are filled, how the whole thing must have unity."
For me this is about the best definition of composition I've come across and we'll be looking at the 'things' that make up composition as we go through the course. We'll also cover camera controls and settings, exposure and focus and much more. There is also sessions on capturing, managing and manipulating images.
